Waterways Harbor and Marina in Aventura is Dirty with Trash and Deisel Oil Slicks

P1000144P1000147P1000142The Waterways harbor and marina is neglected and very dirty.  The smell of deisel oil permeates the air and this week, when I walked around the marina early in the morning, the smell was overwhelming.

Garbage from the boats is embeded in the rocks and is a geniune health hazard.  It is up to the management of the harbor to be sure that the pump works and pulls out polluted water and pulls in clean water.

This harbor is the centerpiece of the Waterways Development and all the beautiful townhomes and patio homes as well as the luxurious One Island Place and The Point of Aventura overlook what was supposed to be a gorgeous natural waterway leading out to the Intracoastal and the Ocean.

Each development pays a monthly fee toward the maintenance of the Harbor.  Someone has let us down.  I wrote to the Harbor Master on Wednesday and so far, no reponse.

As a realtor as well as a resident, this is important to me.  If you live in this area , it should be important to you, too.

Contact the Harbor Master and demand that it be cleaned up!!

Founder’s Day In Aventura November 8 Is Huge Success!!

Founders Day 2009 (5)It is a beautiful, sunny and windy day here in Aventura and the parents and children are arriving at Founders Park in Aventura.  The city has made the day very easy.  When you park your car at the parking garage next to Aventura Car Wash, shuttles are waiting to whisk you away to Founder’s Park where all the attractions that charm children and their parents await.

Founders DayFounders DAY 2009 (3)

There are stands with pretzels, ices, water, and tents where the children can get a purple painted face.  The stage had three beautiful little girls in long pink dresses singing and the seats were all taken by 12:00 p.m. as soon as the park opened.  I would say that this event was put together beautifully and it truly enhances the experience of living in Aventura.

About and Around Aventura

Today, I met an investor for lunch at The Cheesecake Factory in Aventura Mall, always a good place to go for a quick and fresh meal but today there was an extra!

My waiter informed me that Kate Gosselin with two body guards and four children were dining in the back of the restaurant and although I scurried back there to see, I could not find her table, so, alas, I have to say I heard about the event but did not see it with my own eyes.  Obviously, Aventura is on the map and a place to see!

The Apple store in the Mall has the biggest draw.  I waited on line to inspect the computers when I was there last week.  If you want to see what people are buying, that is one indicator.

Aventura Mall was filled with people, today which is a good sign that businesses are getting more sales and people are out spending some money, again.   The Mall is another great reason to live in this city.

Name a gorgeous area in Aventura

My favorite place in Aventura, is the Waterways.  I love walking around the harbor with Golden Pointe townhouses, One Island Way homes and all the other beautiful townhomes of the Waterways.

It is especially gorgeous early in the morning, when it is quiet and the sun is just coming up and the joggers and strollers start coming out with their dogs to take a walk.

It is also a wonderful Marina, with yachts of all sizes docked for the season.  Another reason to make living in Aventura just great!

This waterway goes out to the Intracoastal and then to the Ocean, so if you live here, you can have it all.

New Hotel Coming To Aventura

Just what Aventura needs, a NEW HOTEL, and it is being build in a wonderful location N.E. 185 Street, east of Biscayne Boulevard, near Loehmans Plaza, restaurants, and shopping, close to Wm Lehman Causeway.

The new Hotel is called Aloft, 8 stories, 215 rooms with 3500 sq. feet of space on the first floor for retail stores.  It is slated for completion in November 2009.
